New train for Noida-Dwarka line, reserved steps for Rajiv Chowk

To decongest the Noida-Dwarka section, the DMRC on Thursday introduced a new train on this line.

With this, the frequency of trains between Yamuna Bank and Dwarka is now three min- utes and 30 seconds, which is lowest on the metro network. The introduction of the 45th train on this line has also helped us increase the number of trips from 445 to 532, a DMRC spokesperson said.

More than 4.5 lakh people travel on the Dwarka - Noi- da/Anand Vihar line everyday. STAIR MANAGEMENT To improve crowd management at the Rajiv Chowk Metro sta- tion, the Delhi Metro has reserved one set of stairs and escalators each for commuters going to the underground line and coming up.

According to Delhi Metro officials, the set of stairs and escalators connecting the underground section of Central Secretariat - Jehangirpuri with the platform for Dwarka bound train will now remain reserved for commuters coming up from the underground line.

Those going down to the underground section will have to use the other set located lit- tle away from the platform. We noticed that people going down to the under- ground platform often clogged the staircase and the area around it while waiting for the train while the other set of stairs and escalators remained sparsely used, said a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson.

The new arrangement will ensure that there is no clash of between commuters climb- ing up and going down to the underground line. the spokesperson said.

The DMRC has deployed 15 guards to ensure that people follow the new arrangement. Officials said they carried a one-month trial before announcing the new arrange- ment.

More than three lakh peo- ple use the Rajiv Chowk metro station every day.

Two lakh of them, said DMRC officials, use the sta- tion as interchange point between Dwarka and Jehangirpuri lines.
