4 more Metro trains added to Dwarka line

New Delhi: Metro commuters can finally expect some relief from the dense crush load conditions in trains, especially on line 3 (Dwarka sector 9 to Noida and Anand Vihar). DMRC has added four more trains to the line bringing down the peak hour frequency to 3.30 minutes on the line now.

With this, the total number of trains on the line have been increased to 45 now from just 14 when the Anand Vihar Metro line was opened. The number of train trips have been increased to 1512, an extra 87 trips, of which 532 are on Line 3.

The corporation has also changed movement of people at Rajiv Chowk Metro station to improve flow and prevent stampede like situation. Some escalators and staircases are being used exclusively to go up and others to climb down to line 2 platform. β€˜β€˜The system was being tried out for the last two months and has now been made permanent. It will be extended to other interchange Metro stations like Central Secretariat before the Gurgaon line opens,’’ said a DMRC spokesperson. TNN
